Gertrude A. Kieninger, 100, of Vero Beach, passed away quietly on May 21, 2015, at her home in Countryside, Vero Beach.
She was the loving mother of Dorothy Leahy (John) and William (Maureen). She was grandmother to Denise O’Brien (Kevin), John Leahy (Mary) and Steven Leahy (Sheila), great-grandmother to Stephanie, Justin, Sierra, Savannah and Shane. She is also survived by her sister Caroline Jaeckel.
She was predeceased by her husband, Carl E. of 59 years, by her beloved daughter Nancy, (sister Bernadette Julie, SND) and her brother Dr. Andrew Reitwiesner.
Kieninger was born June 22, 1914 in Mount Vernon, N.Y. She moved to Queens Village, N.Y. in 1943 and relocated to Florida in 1969.
Her career was in the management of several insurance agencies before her retirement. She enjoyed a reputation as an accomplished bridge player who had won her first award while in high school. She loved reading books which she did until her passing and was a lifelong fan of her beloved New York Yankees.
