INDIAN RIVER COUNTY —Hungry families on the Treasure Coast will be eating better this summer, thanks to the generosity of Treasure Coast residents who donated 249,000 pounds of food, the equivalent of 207,500 meals, in the “Stamp Out Hunger” food drive held May 9.
More than 300 volunteers put in about 2,000 hours of service that day to help sort and move the food to Treasure Coast Food Bank and other area food pantries. And volunteers are continuing to sort through the cans and boxes of donated food at Treasure Coast Food Bank’s warehouse.
Treasure Coast Food Bank wishes to thank everyone who had a hand in making the event a success and providing food for those who don’t always know where their next meal is coming from.
