INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — The driver involved in a fatal crash earlier today on Oslo Road has been identified.
The Florida Highway Patrol identified 34-year-old Sonja Dolores Dorothy, of Roseland, as the driver of a Chevy S10 that collided with an 85-year-old man who was riding a motorized wheelchair that had previously been described as a scooter.
The man, identified as Robert Wilbun Jr., of Vero Beach, was attempting to cross Oslo Road at approximately 9 a.m. Monday when Dorothy, who was traveling eastbound in the outside lane on Oslo, struck him, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash happened east of 33rd Avenue Southwest.
Wilbun was taken to the Indian River Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
The crash remains under investigation and charges are pending the outcome of the investigation.
