FDOT holds public hearing for US 1 widening project June 2

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will conduct a public hearing for the proposed improvements to SR 5/US 1 from south of 53rd Street on Tuesday, June 2 at the Polish-American Social Club, 7500 US Highway 1, Vero Beach. The proposed improvements consist of widening SR 5/US 1 from four to six lanes and adding bicycle lanes and sidewalks.

Other improvements include intersection modifications at 53rd Street, 69th Street, and CR 510.

The public hearing will begin as an open house at 5:30 p.m., with a formal presentation at 6 p.m., followed by a public comment period. This public hearing is being conducted to give interested persons an opportunity to express their views concerning the location, conceptual design, and social, economic, and environmental effects of the proposed improvements.

Draft project documents will be available for public review from May 12, 2015 to June 12, 2015 at the following locations:

• Indian River County Administration Building, Community Development – MPO Office, 1801 27th Street, Vero Beach, FL 32960, Tel: (772) 226-1672, Monday through Friday: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

• Indian River County Public Library, 1600 21st Street, Vero Beach, FL 32960, Tel: (772) 770-5060, Mon, Thur: 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Tue, Wed, Fri: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Sunday: 1 to 5 p.m.

Draft documents will also be available at www.us1study.com and on display at the public hearing. Persons wishing to submit written statements or other exhibits, in place of or in addition to oral statements, may do so at the hearing or by sending them to Mr. Anson Sonnett, P.E. at the contact information below. All exhibits or statements postmarked on or before June 12, 2015 will become part of the public hearing record.
