Armed car-jacking suspects crash into Vero Beach home

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — An armed car-jacking in Gifford ended in a crash into someone’s home in Vero Beach.

Two black males car-jacked someone at a party in Gifford on 45th Street overnight Friday into Saturday, according to Indian River County Spokesman Sgt. Eric Flowers.

The victim started to follow the stolen car in his cousin’s car, according to authorities. As the victim followed, the suspects fired shots at their car striking it. 

One suspect has been arrested, while authorities continue their search for the second.

Lennox Baker, 20, of Fort Pierce, faces charges of felony robbery armed with a deadly weapon, felony carjacking, and felony grand theft firearm, according to the Sheriff’s Office. Baker is being held in lieu of $105,000 bond.

During pursuit, Vero Beach Police located the car and followed it until the car crashed through a fence into a residence on 2nd Circle. Authorities said the two suspects then exited the vehicle and fled east, according to the arrest report that recently became available.

One suspect was arrested in the 100 block of 38th Court.
