Mary “Bette” Cavell, 87, of Indian River Shores, passed away on May 16, 2015, of natural causes.
She is survived and will be dearly missed by her six children, Mary Casale of Shavertown, Penn., George Cavell of Yardley, Penn., Margaret Judd of Southport, Conn., David Cavell of Vero Beach, Catherine Nicoletti of Rye, N.Y., Joanne Greco of Westport, Conn.; sons-in-law Alfred Casale and Peter Greco; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and extended family including her sister-in-law, Carol Lombardi of White Plains, N.Y.; four nieces and three nephews.
Born Mary Elizabeth Pence in New York City in 1927, Cavell graduated from Mount St. Vincent College in 1949 and was later employed at Aetna Insurance Company.
She and her late husband, Louis Cavell, were married for 55 years. Following their marriage in 1950, they settled in Yonkers, N.Y. to raise their six children. Together, they owned and operated a real estate and insurance agency for 35 years before retiring to Florida.
An active member of her community and church, Cavell had a full life that included many enduring friendships.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. John the Baptist Church in Yonkers, N.Y. on Saturday, May 23, at 9:30 a.m. Arrangements are under the direction of Strunk Funeral Home and Crematory, Vero Beach. A guest book is available at www.strunkfuneralhome.com.
