Harrell Holmes, 88, of Winter Haven, passed away on May 14, 2015, at Winter Haven Hospital.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Myrtice J. Holmes of Winter Haven; children Neta J. Holmes (Patrick J. Stover) of Sebastian, Carol J. Black of Orlando, Mona A. Masters (Ernest) of Jacksonville, Martye Black of Winter Haven, Bill Black (Chris) of Phoenix, Ariz., and Sharon L. Pope (Jerry) of Idaho; two sisters, Rachel H. Ryall and Gladys H. Earman both of Vero Beach; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Holmes was born and raised in Indian River County. He served in the United States Navy during WWII. After the war, he attended Mary Karl Automotive School in Daytona Beach. He was a salesman for Sunshine Biscuit Cookie Company and also owned citrus groves and was in the bottled water industry.
He married his beloved wife Myrtice later in life and they blended their two families into one. He was a devoted and loving husband and family man. He is a member of The First Baptist Church of Vero Beach where he achieved a Lifetime Deacon award. He loved the Lord and his church family.

Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., Saturday, May 23, 2015 at Strunk Funeral Home, Vero Beach where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Derrick West officiating. Military Honors will be conducted by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3918, Vero Beach. Interment will be in Winter Beach Cemetery at a later date.
