Diane Nason, 82, of Vero Beach, passed away peacefully on May 13.
She is survived by her husband and best friend, Tom; their three children Walter (Lisa), Bruce (Nairobi), and Laurie (George); her sister Dr. Cynthia Ward; and many extended family members and close friends.
Nason was born in Cleveland, Ohio. She was a graduate of Ohio Wesleyan University where she majored in Music Education. She was a proud member of the Alpha Xi Delta sorority and was overjoyed to have her sister, and then her daughter, join her as “Fuzzies.”
She was passionate about teaching and enjoyed a wonderful career as an elementary school teacher and piano instructor. After teaching in Ohio, and then for three years in Anchorage, Alaska, she surrendered her passion to raise her family. She remained an avid pianist her entire life and was also an accomplished choral director, antiques expert, and a lieutenant in the Civil Air Patrol.
Nason and her cherished husband of 60 years, Tom, moved to Vero Beach in 1970, and in recent years loved spending time in Hiawassee, Ga.
A celebration of Diane’s life will be planned for later this year. She treasured her family, valued her friendships, and loved living in Vero Beach.
