John ‘Jack’ Tears, 90, Sebastian

John ‘Jack’ Tears, 90, of Sebastian, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on May 13, 2015, at his residence.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Peg Tears of Sebastian; daughters Ann Tears (Kevin Stingel) of Spring Grove, Ill., and Carol Tears of Vero Beach; granddaughters Amanda Samy (Aiyman) of Deerfield, Ill., and Brie Laughlin (Jeremy) of Chicago, Ill., and grandson Matthew Stingel of Milwaukee, Wis.

Tears was born in Ellenville, N.Y. and lived in Sebastian for 11 years coming from Ulster County, N.Y.

He was a U.S. Army veteran serving with the Army Engineers in Europe, including D-Day, the Battle of the Bulge and the Philippines and received five bronze stars and one silver star. He was retired from New York State OMRDD. He was a member of the American Legion Post 189, Sebastian and the Retired Public Employees Association of New York.
