The message of HOPE continued with Relay for Life of the Beaches, the last of three county relays to benefit the American Cancer Society.
This year’s event, themed Under the Sea, was a day-long affair, running from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., at a new nicely shaded location along the windy oak-lined paths of Riverside Park.
Survivors lined up under a bright purple balloon arch to take the celebratory first lap, cheered on and followed by walkers throughout the day and into the evening as groups entertained on stage and teams raised additional dollars through games and refreshments.
Money raised at Relay for Life events supports cancer research, education and prevention programs.
