State Fire Marshal on scene of vacant house fire

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — The State Fire Marshal is now on scene of an unoccupied house fire that Indian River County firefighters have under control.

Firefighters were able to contain the blaze less than an hour after receiving the call. A cause for the fire has not yet been established.

The vacant house is on Sunset Drive off Roseland Road.

Authorities closed Roseland Road in the area of 129th Street for staging emergency vehicles. When the road will reopen has not yet been determined.

The fire was called in by passing motorists, according to Indian River County Sheriff’s Spokesman Sgt. Eric Flowers. Flames were seen coming through the roof.

No injuries have been reported.

The home has been vacant for four years, according to what the owner told authorities. The owner, who lives in Palm Beach, told authorities that he had been trying to sell the house.
