MPO invites public to weigh in on County transportation May 13-14

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — The Indian River Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) announced today that it has scheduled six public meetings where residents can voice their transportation concerns, solutions, ideas, and suggestions as the MPO plans for the future of transportation in Indian River County.

Phil Matson, Director of the MPO said, “These workshops are a great opportunity for residents to get involved in planning the county’s future roads, interchanges, transit, and intermodal systems.”

The workshops are part of the “Connecting IRC 2040,” the update to the County’s Long Range Transportation Plan to be adopted by the MPO in December of 2015.

Meetings will be held on Wednesday, May 13, at the following locations and times:

• Indian River County Main Library, 10 to 11:30 a.m., 1600 21st Street, Vero Beach., FL 32960.

• County Admin Building B, 2 to 3:30 p.m., 1800 27th Street, Vero Beach, FL 32960.

• North Indian River County Library 6 to 7:30 p.m., 1001 Sebastian Boulevard, Sebastian, FL 32958.

Meetings will be held on Thursday, May 14, at the following locations and times:

• Gifford Youth Activity Center, 9:45 to 10:15 a.m., 4875 43 Avenue, Vero Beach, FL 32967.

• Sebastian City Hall, 1 to 2:30 p.m., 1225 Main Street, Sebastian, FL 32958.

• Fellsmere Council Chambers 3:30 to 5 p.m.m 21 S. Cypress St., Fellsmere, FL 32948.

Citizens unable to make one of the meetings are encouraged to visit www.IRMPO.com and fill out a transportation survey for a chance to win $100 gift certificate valid at any member of the Indian River County Chamber of Commerce.

The Indian River County Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) is a legislative agency responsible for transportation planning in the urbanized area of Indian River County. It has the power to develop and adopt plans and to set priorities for the programming of improvements to the County’s transportation system.
