Vero man arrested for driving car through yard, endangering kids

VERO BEACH — A Vero Beach father was arrested Thursday evening after allegedly driving a car recklessly through a yard where a group of juveniles were gathered.

Several witnesses identified Joshua Jaramillo, 30, of the 1700 block of 31st Avenue in Vero Beach, as the man who drove off the road in a black Pontiac, ripped up the victim’s lawn with his tires, and endangered kids who were in the yard.

One of the children in the yard told authorities Jaramillo was the father of a friend.

The adult victim who resides in the home that Jaramillo targeted said he believes Jaramillo acted out in response to a previous altercation between two groups of juveniles and their parents, according to the arrest report.

Damage to the lawn was estimated at less than $200.

Jaramillo faces charges including misdemeanor criminal mischief and reckless driving. He was released from the Indian River County Jail on $500 bond.
