Naaman “Chip” Lee Myers III, 62, of Sebastian, passed away on April 22, 2015.
He is survived by his wife Sue Estep Myers of Sebastian; his son Dylan Myers; of Washington, D.C.; his granddaughter Aiyanna Morrison; of Morgantown, W.Va.; his sisters Susan Markel of Bristol, Tenn., Mary Rexford of Jacksonville, Fla., Janice Gilmour (Bruce Gilmour) of New Zealand; his nephews, John Markel (Mary Markel) of Bristol, Tenn., and James Gilmour; of New Zealand; nieces Jennifer Markel of Baltimore, Md., Dana Canto (Paul Canto) of Jacksonville, Fla., Erin Bradshaw (Chad Bradshaw) of Dallas, Texas, Anna Gilmour of New Zealand. Many other relatives and friends will mourn his passage as well.
He was predeceased by his sister Judy Myers.
He was born on Oct. 20, 1952, at Langley Air Force Base in Langley, Va., to parents Naaman Lee Myers II and Kathryn Jeanette Myers. As a child, while his father was still in the Air Force, he and his sisters had the opportunity to live overseas in France. He also lived in Blacksburg, Va., Chambersburg, Penn., Baltimore, Md., Salisbury, Md., Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Galatin, Tenn., before coming to live in Sebastian in 1999.
He loved the beauty of the Indian River area and felt very fortunate to live here. Living so close to the wildlife and natural rustic settings brought him a great deal of peace and happiness. Losing both of his parents by his early 30s made Myers work very hard throughout his life to achieve so much on his own. All he really wanted though was to lead a happy life as a regular guy, without any fanfare. Those that knew him can say that he accomplished this very well. He was thoughtful and kind to many and will be greatly missed.
Myers was a R.N. who was an employee at Sebastian River Medical Center, for the past 15 years. He received his nursing degree at the University of Salisbury, in Salisbury, Md. He was part of a new wave of male nurses, beginning his nursing career in 1984. He was always very proud to have been a part of that history.
There will be a memorial held at a future date to celebrate Chip’s life. Everyone who knew and loved Chip is invited to attend when a date has been set.
