INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — A Sebastian man was the victim of an armed car-jacking over the weekend, which prompted the Sheriff’s Office to send out its helicopter and Sebastian Police K-9 unit to search for the suspect Saturday morning.
He was returning to his home in Sebastian during an errand to a gas station when he was car-jacked by a black male last seen wearing all black with a gold stripe down his black pants, according to Indian River County Sheriff’s Spokesman Sgt. Eric Flowers. No other suspect information was given.
The suspect got into the victim’s car and had the victim drive to the Cumberland Farms gas station at Barber Street and County Road 512 to use the ATM.
When they arrived at the gas station the victim jumped out of the car, according to authorities. The suspect then fled on foot.
The Sheriff’s helicopter and Sebastian Police K-9 unit searched the area for the suspect. He was not located. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances of the car-jacking and are searching for the suspect.
