Raymond William Winkler, 90, of Vero Beach, passed away on April 29, 2015, after complications from lung cancer and CHF
He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law Ken and Pat Winkler of Cummings, Ga., his daughter and son-in-law Susan and Joel Crosby of Brunswick, Ga., and his son Scott Winkler, and grandson Owen Winkler of Los Altos Hills, Calif.
An accomplished international executive, Winkler worked his entire career for Exxon Mobil eventually serving as Vice President Esso Caribbean and Central America in Coral Gables, retiring in 1984.
He was born in 1925 in St. Louis, Mo., of modest means, and believed strongly in education. He earned a BS from Illinois Institute of Technology and a MS and Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from Washington University, and went through the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School. He continued to support these institutions throughout his life.
Winkler and his late wife of almost 60 years, Jean P. Winkler, moved to Vero after his retirement and have always been very active community volunteers and church supporters. He and Jean loved to entertain and travel, and particularly enjoyed Seabourn cruises around the globe.
A Memorial Service will be held Friday, May 8 at 10:30AM at the Vero Community Church.
