Treasure Coast Chorale performs jazz concert May 17

VERO BEACH — The Treasure Coast Chorale (TCC) will perform an American jazz music concert featuring jazz from the 1930s to the 1970s on May 17. Attendees will enjoy an upbeat evening of songs from this gifted 75-voice local chorus directed by Dr. Michael Carter.

Called “And All That Jazz,” the concert will take place at 7 p.m. on Sunday, May 17, at the First Baptist Church, 2206 16th Avenue, Vero Beach. As always, the performance will be free and a donation will be requested from the audience to assist this community chorus in offering three exciting concerts annually to the Treasure Coast audiences.

On the program is “What A Wonderful World” written in 1967, “Route 66” from 1946, “I Won’t Dance” from 1934, and, of course, “All That Jazz from the musical “Chicago” written in 1975.

“It was hard to choose from so many pieces of wonderful music in this period so we decided to stick to some familiar ones for this concert,” Dr. Carter said, “We have also invited some talented special guests to perform this musical tribute including guitarist Dave Mundy, drummer Richie Mola, flutist Emilio Rutllant and the Dolls, Vero’s popular oldies trio. Piano accompaniment will be provided by Judy Carter.”

Doors at the church will open for seating at 6 p.m. for the evening performance and the audience is encouraged to arrive early as many of the recent TCC concerts have been standing room only.
