Vero Police bust High Tide Auto owners for selling marijuana

VERO BEACH — A month-long investigation into a suspected marijuana sales operation at High Tide Auto behind Michael Field led to three arrests Wednesday of the two owners and head mechanic at High Tide Auto at 2626 U.S. 1.

Vero Beach Police Detectives served active warrants for previous marijuana sales on co-owners Anthony Gagnon, 40, and Elizabeth Gagnon, 39, both of 13th Avenue in Vero Beach. The Gagnons are facing charges of sale, delivery or possession with intent to sell or deliver cannabis within 1,000 feet of a park, possession of less than 20 grams of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The Gagnons’ lead mechanic, Timothy Aikey, 27, of Belfast Terrace in Sebastian is facing the same charges, plus a charge for possession of more than 20 grams of cannabis with intent to distribute.

This is a first local arrest for the Gagnons, but Aikey has four prior arrests on file in Indian River County going back to felony burglary charges in 2007 when he was 19 years old.

Police said, “Several suspects sold marijuana from out of the business and it was noted that directly behind High Tide Auto is a Little League baseball park,” and that search warrants served Wednesday netted just less than 30 grams of marijuana and “several devices associated with smoking cannabis.”

The suspects are being held without bond, according to a statement from the Vero Beach Police Department and the Indian River Sheriff’s Office online booking records.
