Ronald E. Goodnough, Lt. Col. USAF Retired, 83, of Vero Beach, passed away on April 22, 2015, at Atlantic Health Care in Vero Beach.
He is survived by his childhood sweetheart and wife of 61 years, Germaine “Gerri” Goodnough; his daughter Karen Mechling, of Vero Beach; son Keith Goodnough, of Sanford, Maine; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Goodnough was born in Portsmouth, N.H., and has been a resident of Vero Beach for 38 years. Prior to retirement, he served the country as a Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Air Force. His 20 years of service included several tours of duty in Vietnam. He was a member of St. John of the Cross Catholic Church in Vero Beach as well as the Military Officers Association of America, Indian River County Chapter. He was a former driver for the Indian River County Volunteer Ambulance Squad.
