SEBASTIAN — Judy McNamara, President of the Sebastian River Art Club, announced that Olivia Gernert of Sebastian is the recipient of the 8th annual Sebastian River Art Club Scholarship provided by the Rosalee Taylor Hume Scholarship Fund. The announcement was made at the Club’s general membership meeting held on Tuesday, April 14, 2015.
Gernert will graduate from Sebastian River High School this year and plans to attend Eastern Florida State College and major in Graphic Design. After receiving her Associate of Arts Degree, her next goal will be to receive a Bachelors Degree from the University of Florida. High school art classes helped Gernert realize her passion for art and drawing, along with her special creativity talent. After graduating, her dream career is to become a cartoonist with a famous, influential company.
She has volunteered at H.A.L.O. a no kill animal shelter in Sebastian. She is an outstanding art student with high academic achievement and is dedicated to succeed through hard work. Her art teacher attributes the traits of kindness, respect, integrity, and conscientiousness to Gernert. She is a special student, a creative artist, and the winner of this year’s Sebastian River Art Club Scholarship.
