Sammie H. Evans, Jr., 72, of Vero Beach, passed away on April 21, 2015, at his residence in Vero Beach.
He is survived by his sister Dollie Boggs, of Vero Beach, and cousin Benny Evans, of Clayton, Ga.
Evans was born in Griffin, Ga., and had been a resident of Vero Beach for 39 years. He served in the Army during the Vietnam War where he had received the Purple Heart. Prior to retirement he worked for Colonial Store in Griffin, Ga., and then King Groceries and Winn Dixie in Vero Beach. He had been a painter and enjoyed visiting the A.E. Backus Art Gallery and Museum in Fort Pierce.
A Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 26, 2015, with a Service beginning at 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 26, 2015 at Aycock Funeral Home in Fort Pierce.
