Lawrence Silvernail, 88, Vero Beach

Lawrence Silvernail, 88, of Vero Beach, passed away on April 16, 2015, after a battle with Alzheimer’s on Thursday, April 16, 2015, at Hospice House in Vero Beach.

He is survived by his son Loyd on Connecticut; daughter Patricia Olivieri of Florida and her partner Don Elliott.

His wife Phebe, is already an angel and is awaiting his arrival along with his beloved dog, Gigi and cat, Gonzo.

He was the son of Lewis and Elsie Gates Silvernail, and nephew of Lloyd Kipp Silvernail.

Silvernail was a graduate of Hamden High School, class of 1945.

He was a WWII Vet stationed in the Philippines and Guam, for the Army Air Corp. He worked at Pratt & Whitney in Connecticut in the Tool & Dye Department for 35 years. After retiring in 1982, he and his wife moved to the Treasure Coast.

Silvernail loved to play golf and he achieved four hole in ones. The family would go each year to Ogunquit, Maine where they had property. Both he and his wife lived in Village Green in Vero for more than 20 years and was very active in the community. He made the hash for the Sunday Breakfasts.

A memorial service will be in Connecticut at a later date. Cox Gifford Seawinds is in charge of arrangements in Florida and BC Bailey Funeral Home in Wallingford, Conn. Any donations should be directed to your local animal shelter of your choice in Larry’s name.
