Mary Sophie Mead, of Vero Beach, passed away on April 8, 2015.
She is survived by her daughters, Kathy Peterson (Eric), of Palm City, and Joy Mead, of Vero Beach; sons John Mead IV (Arline), of N.C., Frank G. Flesche, of Texas; and eight grandchildren.
Mead was born in upstate New York. After attending Dayton Business College, she worked for the Western Electric Company in Production Control. She was widowed young with a five-year- old son, Frank Flesche.
She was remarried to John Mead III, who preceded her in death. John’s job moved them to many areas of the country including New Jersey, Texas, Michigan, and Ohio. They retired to Vero Beach in the 1970s.
She saw the good in people and always appreciated kindness of others. She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Vero Beach.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 14, 2015, at Aycock Funeral Home in Fort Pierce. A Funeral Service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at Trinity Episcopal Church in Vero Beach. Entombment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Fort Pierce.
