VERO BEACH — The United States Tennis Association (USTA) announced that the Boulevard Village and Tennis Club in Vero Beach will host the 25th year anniversary of the USTA Pro Circuit Men’s Futures Event, the SorensenRealEstate.com Tennis Classic, from April 25 to May 3, 2015.
The tournament, a USTA Futures Event, is the largest and only USTA Professional Men’s Tennis event hosted in Vero Beach, and has attracted top professional players such as Tim Henman, Olympic gold medalist Nicolas Massu, and Vero Beach’s own local hero, Mardy Fish. It is one of the longest-running tournaments in the USTA.
The field for the USTA Pro Circuit event in Vero Beach will feature a qualifying draw of 128 players, who are attempting to play in the main draw of eight. A special “Wild Card” tournament will be held April 18 and 19 at the Vero Beach Tennis Center for a local player to earn a slot to compete in the Main Draw.
Beginning on April 25 at The Boulevard and Tennis Club, the regular qualifier rounds will determine the final seven entries into the main field. Players ranked as high as No. 300 to 500 in the world typically compete in the nine-day event.
To make the event more exciting, tournament director Mike Rahaley is hosting a pre-qualifying “Wild Card” Tournament competition on April 18 and 19, 2015 at the Vero Beach Tennis Center. This is an excellent opportunity for a talented local to win a spot in the Main Draw. For details, visit www.verobeachtennisnews.com.
