Mildred “Millie” Jacobs, 95, of Vero Beach, formerly of Howell, Mich., passed away on March 25, 2015.
She is survived by her five children Ronald Jacobs, Karen Salswedel, Wendell Jacobs, Jr., Jan (Steve) Mateskon, and Jill (David) Meadows; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Dr. Wendell E. Jacobs, and 11 siblings.
Jacobs was born in South Dakota to Pearl E. and Walter B. Horton, both of Kirksville, Mo.
She met medical student, Wendell in Missouri. Married in Ohio, they started his medical practice in Michigan. A keen businesswoman, Jacobs purchased rental properties in Florida and Michigan.
Always a tough negotiator and marathon shopper with a classic eye for decorating, she filled life with beauty and style. She loved dancing, bridge, traveling with “Doc,” reading, entertaining, art, motor coach and won several snowmobile races. Jacobs believed that her life was always guided by her faith in the Lord.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, April 11, at Strunk Funeral Home, Vero Beach from 4 to 6 p.m. with a funeral service beginning at 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in Mildred’s honor are suggested.
