VERO BEACH — April will be a special month at Gallery 14 when two very popular artists, using local flora and fauna as their mediums, offer up heavy doses of whimsy and charm as the Gallery celebrates the coming of spring.
Brent Greene’s bamboo insects and other delights have graced the halls of Gallery 14 before. He was the 2014 Gallery Choice Award at Our Beautiful Waters in December and then went on to win 1st Place Mixed Media at the recent heavily attended Art on the Island exhibit.
Viola Pace Knudsen, who is represented by the Gallery year round, will be given a special expanded show. This exhibit will feature, not only her extraordinary baskets made from long Southern Pine needles and walnut shells, and in some cases clay, horn, gourds, and other organic materials, but also her special paintings of the natural wonders of the Florida landscape.
The show will run from March 31 through April 25, with a reception on Friday night April 3 from 5 to 8 p.m. in conjunction with the Downtown Historic Arts District’s First Friday Gallery Stroll. All are welcome.
Also highlighted will be new work and old favorites in oil, watercolor, acrylic, graphite, mixed media, collage, jewelry, photography, ceramics and sculpture, by Gallery 14 partners: Edgardo Abello, Lila Blakeslee, Cheri Cruden, Barbara du Pont, Mary Ann Hall, Virginia Knapp, Barbara Landry, Deborah Morrell Polackwich, and Dorothy Napp Schindel and represented artists: Francis Mesaros, Joan Earnhart, Carol Staub, Bryan Beck, Terry Green, Walford Campbell, and Emily Heinzel. Gallery 14, located at 1911 14th Ave., is open Tuesday through Friday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., or by appointment or chance. The Gallery is closed Sunday and Monday.
