Youth Sailing Foundation hosts regatta March 28

VERO BEACH — The 2nd Annual Steve Martin Memorial Regatta is coming Saturday March 28, to the Youth Sailing Foundation of Indian River County located at the south side of the 17th Street Bridge.

The Rotary Club of Vero Beach Sunrise is the major sponsor this year and is bringing 23 Rotarians to direct traffic, register racers, cook the lunch, provide viewing on the water, act as chase boats, and then clean up. Sunshine Furniture is also a sponsor.

Boats from Fort Pierce are coming as well as Vero Beach Youth Opti sailors, the high school sailing team, and adult sailors. There will be a “Green Fleet” and a “Mixed Fleet.” This should be an exciting race to watch.

Skippers meeting is at 10:45 a.m. with warning signal for the first race at 11:45 a.m. The second race begins at 2:30 p.m.

Line up on the 17th Street Bridge or venture into Youth Sailing Foundation where there will be volunteers assisting with parking and directing spectators to good viewing areas. The entrance is free and open to the public.
