Debora Jo Allen, 62, Vero Beach

Debora Jo Allen, 62, of Vero Beach, passed away peacefully at her home on March 12, 2015. She had been suffering from Polycystic Renal/Kidney failure for the past 10 years.

She is survived by her daughter Dawn (James) Midelis; step-grandchildren Jewel and James Midelis of Ft. Pierce; mother Joan K. Allen; brother Mike Allen; nephews Mat and Kyle (Rachel) Allen; two great-nephews and a great-niece all of Indianapolis; and her companion Lynn McKinney of Vero Beach; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her father Marion Allen, paternal grandparents Reuben and Helen Allen-Shroyer; maternal grandparents Howard and Helen Kline.

Allen was the daughter of Marion Lee and Joan K. Allen, in Middletown, Ind. She graduated from Shenandoah High School, Class of 1970, and earned a BS and MA degrees from Ball State University in Adult Education.

Following her college graduation she served as the Madison and Randolph County, Ind., Youth Extension Agent. After her Extension service, she was engaged in farming near Lynn, Ind., before locating to the Lafayette area and retiring (2007) from the Meijer Corporation in Lafayette.

Allen enjoyed her family, friends, dogs, horses, and later her retirement in Vero Beach.

A Memorial service in her honor will be held at the Anderson Church of the Brethren in Anderson, Ind., 741 N. Scatterfield Rd., on Saturday, April 18 at 11 a.m. with a social hour following for family, friends and guests to “celebrate the life of Debby” in the reception hall at the church. A private cremation burial will follow at a later date at the Mechanicsburg Cemetery.
