Ruth Louise Stark Andersen, 78, of Vero Beach, passed away on March 21, 2015, after a brave battle with cancer.
She is survived by her husband Alfred; son AJ Andersen of Miami, Fla.; daughter Kim Andersen-Gerosa (Bill) of Pleasantville, N.Y.; son Karl Andersen (Anja Taekker) of Poughquag, N.Y.; granddaughters Maya Andersen, Nicole Gerosa, Grace Gerosa and Sophia Andersen; sister Joan Herrman and family of Mt. Kisco, N.Y.; and the family of her late brother, Arthur Stark of Charleston, S.C.
Andersen was born in Shrub Oak, N.Y., on June 3, 1936, and attended Thornwood Elementary School, Pleasantville High School, SUNY New Paltz where she obtained her BS Degree, and went on to Hunter College to achieve her Master’s Degree. She was a dedicated teacher and taught elementary school for 36 years.
She married Alfred N. Andersen on Dec. 27, 1957. Together they raised three children. Andersen was a beautiful wife, mother, grandmother and friend.
The family will receive friends from 12 to 3 p.m., Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at Cox-Gifford-Seawinds Funeral Home, 1950 20th Street, Vero Beach, FL 32960. A Celebration of Ruth’s life will begin at 3 p.m. Interment will take place in New York. Online condolences may be made at www.coxgiffordseawinds.com.
