Bernard ‘Bernie’ Gitlin, 81, Vero Beach

Bernard “Bernie” Gitlin, 81, of Vero Beach, passed away on March 12, 2015, at VNA Hospice House in Vero Beach.

He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Marilyn (Seese); extended family Scott, Anita, Alex, and Chelsea Taylor, Lisa, Kathleen, Bradley and Hannah Kilbride; his sister Marsha (Gitlin) Barsky; brother Howard (Mary); sister-in-law Delores; several beloved nieces and nephews: Michael (Lisa), Natalie (Scott), Wendy (Gerald), William (Vanessa) and Jimmy; great-nephew Matthew; and great-nieces, Emma Jane and Hannah.

Gitlin was an army veteran of the Korean conflict and continued his service through the Victory Center Veterans’ Association. He volunteered as a Guardian Ad Liteum in Fort Pierce and served as secretary for the local EAA (Experimental Aircraft Association).

To honor his life and to fulfill his desires, in lieu of a formal funeral service, please take time with your families to share your favorite memories of Gitlin. Laugh a lot and cry a little. He was a man of honor, with a generous spirit and our lives are better for having known him. Disposition of his ashes will be held at a later date. Donations can be made to VNA hospice of Vero Beach with special thanks to Tammy, Addie, Francois and Ashley and the numerous staff and volunteers that made his passing peaceful.
