Leonard ‘Skin’ Copeland, 62, Vero Beach

Leonard “Skin” Copeland, 62, of Vero Beach, passed away on March 9, 2015, at Indian River Medical Center.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Deen; daughter Megan (David) Beasley of Atlanta, Ga.; son Devin Copeland of Vero Beach; father Elmer Copeland of Collinsville, Ill.; siblings Eugene (Carol) Long of Trenton, Ill., Bonnie ( Timothy) Moyer of Troy, Ill., Judy (Michael) Lindhorst of Columbia, Ill., and Denise (Raymond) Doyle of St. Charles, Mo., and Steve (Debbie) Copeland of Eureka, Mo.; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was predeceased by his mother Betty Copeland and his sister Donna Markowski.

Copeland was born Oct. 31, 1952, in East St. Louis, Ill., son of Elmer and Betty Copeland. He grew up in Collinsville, Ill., and had been a resident of Vero Beach for 35 years, coming from Collinsville.

He was a carpenter by trade, retiring from Island Tile & Stone. He enjoyed golf, water sports, and was an avid fisherman. He loved to socialize with his friends, family, and even strangers. He was a friendly soul and loved to cook.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m., Friday, March 13, 2015, at Cox-Gifford-Seawinds Funeral Home in Vero Beach. A Memorial Service will begin at 6 p.m.
