John Sebastian of “Lovin’ Spoonful” to perform March 14

VERO BEACH — Lovin’ Spoonful’s John Sebastian is up next in the “Masters of Music Series,” brought to Vero Beach by concert promoter Rusty Young of MusicWorks, Inc.

The second performer for the three-part Masters of Music Series is a welcome addition to the trio of performers bringing back the glory days of rock and folk music. The three performances are being held on The Emerson Center’s stage, well-known as having some of the best musical acoustics in Vero Beach. John Sebastian, lead singer of the Lovin’ Spoonful, will be performing on Saturday, March 14, at 7 p.m.

Sebastian is an American singer, songwriter, guitarist and autoharpist. He is best known as a founder of The Lovin’ Spoonful, a band inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2000 and the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2008.

The Lovin’ Spoonful became part of the American response to the British Invasion and was noted for such folk-flavored hits as “Darlin Be Home Soon,“ “Do You Believe in Magic,” “Summer in the City,” “Daydream,” “Nashville Cats,” “Did You Ever Have to Make Up Your Mind?,” “Six O’Clock,” “You Didn’t Have to Be So Nice” and “Younger Girl.”

In addition to being a master musician, writer and performer, Sebastian remains one of the best ambassadors American music has ever had.

Concluding the series will be award-winning singers Janis Ian and Tom Paxton on Friday, April 10. Promoter Young is co-producing this series with the Vero Beach based Marketing and Special Events professionals, Beverly and Martin Paris of Paris Productions.

A portion of the proceeds of each performance will be given back to the partnering organization of the (not for profit) Emerson Center to help defray their operating costs. They are also partnering with the United Way of Indian River County. The Emcee for Sebastian’s performance will be well-known radio personality Rhett Palmer.

Single tickets for Emerson Center performances may be purchased either online at www.TheEmersonCenter.org or by calling the Box Office at (772) 778-5249 and are priced from $20 to $75 (a $3 per ticket service fee will be added to each ticket price) and each concert offers a VIP seating and a Meet and Greet following the performance.

The Emerson Center is conveniently located on the campus of the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Vero Beach, on the SE corner of 16th Street and 27th Avenue. It has more than 300 parking spaces, an auditorium that seats more than 800 people in comfortable padded seating, a raised stage that offers everyone unrestricted views, and professional state-of-the-art sound and lighting systems.
