Local businesses support child abuse prevention awareness in April

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — As part of a national drive in April, which recognizes National Child Abuse Awareness Month, The Ounce of Prevention Fund of Florida and the Florida Department of Children and Families, along with the Indian River County’s Giving Kidz a Chance and the Indian River County Healthy Start Coalition are planning to place hundreds of blue and silver pinwheels in the ground in front of local businesses.

This campaign is a reminder of the happy childhoods and bright futures that all children deserve, as well as the important role we each play in ensuring every child has an equal opportunity for healthy growth and development.

Any business eager to participate, and to help underwrite this campaign are asked to notify the IRC Healthy Start Coalition. Presently 1,000 pinwheels are on order and more can be ordered to allow for a more extensive participation.

Interested business representatives should contact the Healthy Start offices by calling (772) 563-9118 or Healthy Families at (772) 778-1323.
