James Gwinn, 83, of Vero Beach, passed away on Feb. 12, 2015, at the VNA Hospice House in Vero Beach.
He is survived by his caring and beloved wife of 18 years, Glenda Sue Gwinn; four children James Thomas (Sharon) Gwinn Jr., Mark (Heidi) Gwinn, Laura (Gary) Webb, Diane (Scott) High; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild; stepsons Stephen (Pam) Florio and Mark (Ellen) Florio; and four step-grandchildren.
He was the only child born to Winfred and Mildred Gwinn July 29, 1931, in Charleston, W.Va. He graduated from Charleston High School and received a degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Miami.
Gwinn enlisted in the Navy in 1951 and was a proud veteran of the Korean War where he received many medals of declaration. He and the late Betty Ann Gwinn (Thompson) raised their family in Florida where he retired from a career at IBM and lived for more than 50 years. He was a dependable and intelligent man who prided himself in taking care of his family. Gwinn enjoyed sports, playing golf, engaging in a good debate and spending time with his wife and dog Bentley.
