70 pot plants seized from County marijuana grow house

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — On Saturday, authorities found 70 marijuana plants growing in a three-bedroom home that had been converted into a grow house in the 6200 block of 4th Lane.

Austin J. Corripio, 20, of the same county address as the grow house, and Joshua Andrew Roberts, 30, of an unknown address, were both arrested in connection to the marijuana cultivation operation, according to authorities.

In addition to the 70 marijuana plants, the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office MACE Unit found a pipe and lighter, PVC pipe, growing lights, chemicals for growing marijuana, books on growing marijuana, a lease agreement with Corripio’s signature, and newly installed individual room air conditioners.

According to the police report, it appeared the home was not being used as a place to sleep, as marijuana plants occupied all bedrooms and no beds were located.

The two men were found in a white work van belonging to Roberts’ employer, according to the Sheriff’s Office. Both face charges including cultivation of marijuana, possession marijuana over 20 grams, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Corripio is being held in lieu of $36,000 bail and Roberts was released on $25,000 bond.
