Mary Snowden, 51, Vero Beach

Mary Ciacci Snowden, 51, of Vero Beach, passed away on Feb. 22, 2015, at her home.

She is survived by her son Reed Snowden of Vero Beach; two sisters, Marlene Roske of Vero Beach and Karen Ciacci of Clarksville, Ga.; three brothers, Mike, Ray and John Roske all of Vero Beach; and former husband Scott Snowden of Vero Beach.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Eddie Roske.

She was born March 9, 1963 in Vero Beach, the daughter of the late Edward and Shirley Mae Roske. Snowden worked as a certified nursing assistant for Home Health in Vero Beach. She attended St. Helen Catholic Church.

Snowden had an adventurous personality and many interests. She loved outdoor adventures like deep sea fishing and diving in the keys. She also became an enthusiastic hunter later in life, for her it was the adventure of being outdoors in the back country.

In the early 1990s she worked for the city of Fort Pierce in the appraiser’s office and while working there she developed a love for local artists who displayed the paintings in downtown Fort Pierce. She collected paintings from local artists long before we all became familiar with the Highwaymen paintings.

She dabbled in real estate doing very well for herself in the late 1990s. She used that to acquire a beautiful home on a shady quiet street in Vero. Snowden would spend many weekends working around the house in the shade of her big oak trees while she was cooking up one of her awesome meals. She loved to cook and share it with friends and family.

Snowden was a loving mother and a great friend to many over the course of her life. If you met her once you would always remember her beauty and inquisitive outgoing nature.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. and a Celebration of Mary’s Life will begin at 3 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 28, 2015 at Cox-Gifford Seawinds Funeral Home and Crematory in Vero Beach. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the American Diabetes Society. An online Guestbook may be signed at www.coxgiffordseawinds.com.
