INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — An Indian River County man fled when a police officer showed up at his home with a warrant for his arrest Friday night, beginning a chase that ultimately landed the man in jail and facing several charges, including robbery armed with a deadly weapon.
Darrian Latavius Williams, 39, of the 4400 block of 31st Ave., Vero Beach, caused the officer serving his warrant to injure his ankle as Williams attempted to flee the home he shares with his girlfriend, authorities said in the arrest report.
Police were called back to the scene when they were notified Williams had returned to the home armed with a handgun, broke into his girlfriend’s vehicle, stole her cell phone, and threatened her life, the report states.
Williams then regained entry into the home by pushing in a window air conditioning unit, according to the police report. Williams was later found hiding at a separate residence with the stolen cell phone, but officers did not recover a firearm.
He is being held in lieu of $182,500 bond and faces charges of felony robbery armed with deadly weapon, possession firearm/ammo/electric device by convicted felon, felony resist arrest with violence, misdemeanor resist arrest without violence, aggravated assault and domestic violence, two counts misdemeanor drive with license suspended/revoked/cancelled, and felony drive with license suspended.
