Dorothy Wahlin Benson, 98, of Vero Beach, passed away on Feb. 11, 2015, at the Indian River Estates Medical Center in Vero Beach.
She is survived by her son Daniel Wahlin Benson (Julie) of Vero Beach; daughter Janetha Benson (Russell DeJong) of Belgrade, Maine; grandchildren Elissan Benson Maguire (Mark), Amanda Segura (Spencer), Nigel William Wahlin Benson, Sarah DeJong and Mark DeJong; and great-grandchildren Camden, Colin, Mitchell and Shane Mcguire and Spencer and Genevieve Segura.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Rev. Caryl Benson, in 1997.
Benson was born in Mason City, Iowa and spent her early childhood in Redwing, Minn. She moved to Vero Beach 25 years ago from Boynton Beach where she and her late husband Rev. Caryl Benson had retired after serving the Salem Lutheran Church in Bridgeport, Conn.
A memorial service will be held at the Salem Lutheran Church in Bridgeport, Conn., later in the spring. Arrangements are under the direction of Strunk Funeral Home and Crematory, Vero Beach. An online guest book is available at www.strunkfuneralhome.com.
