Treasure Coast Bell Festival comes to Vero Beach Feb. 7

VERO BEACH — The Third Annual Treasure Coast Bell Festival is a regional festival for hand bell ensembles from all over the Treasure and Space Coast areas. The festival this year has been endorsed by the National Hand Bell Musician Association. This year’s guest conductor and clinician is Bob Avant, artistic director of the famed Austin Hand Bell Ensemble and The Baylor University Bells.

The two day festival will conclude with a concert (free to the public) on Saturday, Feb. 7, at 4 p.m. at the Community Church of Vero Beach. The first half will feature the region’s only auditioned community hand bell ensemble, the Atlantic Ringers, and the second half will feature all the participants of the two festival in a mass handbell choir playing five pieces under the direction of Avant.

More than 50 ringers, 500 hand bells, and 300 hand chimes will gather in the sanctuary of the Community Church for this two day event to polish their ringing and music skills under the direction of Avant, and then present the final concert.
