Lavonne Marie “Bonnie” Orem, 86, a 22-year resident of Sebastian, passed away at home on Feb. 1, 2015, after a long illness.
She is survived by her husband James Orem; son Terry (Mary) Orem, of Lakewood, Colo.; daughters Lynn Johnson, of Alamosa, Colo., Wendy (Stephen) Wilson, of Destin, Fla., Tanya Quinn, of Santa Rosa Beach, Fla., and Dianne Maxwell, of Stuart, Fla.; 15 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her beloved son Larry (Ruth) Orem.
She was born on June 24, 1928 in Pennsylvania. Her family moved to Maryland where she met her beloved husband of almost 70 years, James “Jim” Ivan Orem, who was devotedly by her side caring for her throughout her illness.
The Orem’s moved to Colorado in 1960 with their six children.
Orem’s love of gardening led her to open a flower shop in Littleton, Colo. The couple retired to Florida because of her love of swimming and the ocean. She personified what it meant to be a caring person. She will be lovingly remembered for her infectious laugh and her love of cooking, which she shared with her children and grandchildren.
