Jeff Shadley joins Space Coast Symphony Orchestra for jazz concert Feb. 8

VERO BEACH — Superstar entertainer Jeff Shadley returns to Florida for the Great American Songbook at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 8, at the Vero Beach High School Performing Arts Center, 1707 16th Street, 32960.

The Space Coast Symphony strings and the Phoenix Jazz Orchestra will join the Tulsa vocalist, trumpeter and band leader with selections by George and Ira Gershwin, Cole Porter, Harold Arlen, Johnny Mercer, Jimmy Van Heusen, Dean Martin, and Frank Sinatra. The concert will swing, with Shadley leading the party on a journey through a century of America’s greatest music.

The concert title is derived from the aptly named Great American Songbook, a canon of the most important and influential American popular songs of the 20th Century. Compiled principally from Broadway theatre, musical theatre and Hollywood musical films from the 1920s through the 1950s, the Great American Songbook includes dozens of songs of enduring popularity.

Tickets are available in advance for $20 through the orchestra website at www.SpaceCoastSymphony.org or at several convenient ticket outlets, including Marine Bank & Trust (beachside and mainland branches) and Madison Avenue Consignments. Tickets at the door are $25. The performance is free for those aged 18 and under or with a college student ID. Call toll free to (855) 252-7276 for more information.

Space Coast Symphony Orchestra Artistic Director, Aaron T. Collins has put together a feast for jazz lovers.

“This is a fantastic musical recipe,” said Collins. “Take a superstar entertainer, add a winning jazz orchestra and blend in some great strings. You get the 20th Century’s best songs served up with a heaping helping of swing!”
