George Britton Smith, 92, Vero Beach

George Britton Smith, 92, of Vero Beach, passed away on Feb. 1, 2015, at his home.

He is survived by his daughters Sandra Smith Lambert (John Kaczmarek) and Cindi Stenroos (Bill) both of Boca Raton; grandsons Charles Britton Lambert of West Palm Beach and Garry Martin Lambert of Boca Raton; granddaughter Brittony Ann Happ (Sean) of Orlando; sister Virginia Taffer of Sanford, Fla.; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 50 years, Winifred J. Smith; son George Britton Smith, Jr.; brothers Willie Smith, Leonard Smith, John Smith and Donald Smith and sister Grace O’Neal.

Smith was born in Hamilton County, Fla., and lived in Vero Beach for 90 years coming from his birthplace. He worked for many years in the citrus industry, managing groves and packing houses for Hogan and Sons Citrus Packing, Eli Walker, Sun Stream Grove, Boca Raton and several others. He was a veteran of the United States Coast Guard having served during World War II.

Smith, Sr. Visitation will be held 11 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Friday, Feb. 6, 2015, at Strunk Funeral Home, Vero Beach. A Funeral Service will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, Feb. 6, 2015, at Strunk Funeral Home.
