Ella Christina Buckman, 93, of Vero Beach, passed away on Feb. 1, 2015, at Consulate Health Care of Vero Beach.
She is survived by her son Jay Buckman (Sonja) of Melbourne; and grandson David Harrell of Tampa.
She was preceded in death by her husband Lt. Col. Alex Buckman, a sister Ruby Mae Hein and a brother Donald Peckham.
Buckman was born in Garfield County, Okla., and moved to Vero Beach in 1958 from Madison, Wis. She had been a secretary and school nurse for Sebastian Elementary School before her retirement.
She was a member of Wabasso United Methodist Church before joining Asbury United Methodist Church in Vero Beach. She was active in scouting in many leadership roles from being a Den Mother in Cub Scouts to serving on the Gulf Stream Council. She also volunteered and served in the Lord’s Table Soup Kitchen in Fellsmere.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m., Friday, Feb. 6, 2015, at the Strunk Funeral Home in Vero Beach and a Life Celebration Service beginning at 3 p.m., Rev.
