Gerald Lustig, 69, Vero Beach

Gerald Joseph Lustig II, 69, of Vero Beach, passed away on Jan. 31, 2015, at the Florida Baptist Retirement Center in Vero Beach.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years Frances “Betty” Elizabeth Lustig; sons Gerald “Joe” Joseph Lustig III (Jen), of Flower Mound, Texas, and James “Jim” Thomas Lustig (Wendy), of Orlando; granddaughters Cassie, Ashley and Chloe Lustig of Flower Mound, Texas; sisters Linda Coffey (Tom), of Otto, N.C., and Nancy Speedy (Arthur), of Stuart.

Lustig was born in Miami, the son of the late Gerald Joseph and Kathleen (nee Wilkerson) Lustig, and was a lifelong resident of Vero Beach. A graduate of Nova University, he served in the Army National Guard during the Vietnam War and had worked for BellSouth for 35 years, prior to his retirement.

Lustig was a member of St. Helen Catholic Church in Vero Beach and a member of the Knights of Columbus. It was not a secret that he enjoyed outdoor activities and was especially fond of fishing and hunting.

Mass will be celebrated beginning at 12 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2015, at St. Helen Catholic Church. Arrangements are by Strunk Funeral Home and Crematory, Vero Beach. A guest book is available at www.strunkfuneralhome.com.
