Stephen Bromley Tily, III, Vero Beach

Stephen Bromley Tily, III, of Vero Beach, passed away on Jan. 24, 2015.

He is survived by his wife, three children, five grandchildren and his sister.

Born in 1937, Tily attended Lower Merion High School, Washington & Jefferson College and Temple Law School. He served as Captain in the US Army. He began his career in finance as vice president of Farmers Bank. In 1981, Tily started a trust company that specialized in retirement plans offered through stock brokerage firms. Tily was chairman and CEO of that company, Delaware Charter Guarantee & Trust Company (now known as Principal Trust Company).

He found the most rewarding thing about owning a trust company is when you find out, years after you retire, that people are still satisfied with your product. His greatest joys were boating, playing golf and enjoying sunset dinners with his wife, children and grandchildren.

He was a devoted husband and father.
