Culinary, home improvement classes come to IRSC

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — The Corporate and Community Training Institute (CCTI) at Indian River State College (IRSC) offers a wide variety of corporate, professional and personal development opportunities for area residents and businesses. Some of the upcoming personal development courses will provide participants with the chance to learn about Italian cooking or participate in a series of home improvement courses to improve DIY skills.

Creative Cooking – A Taste of Italy:

Take a journey to Italy and experience the robust flavors that make Italian cuisine famous. This three hour, hands on cooking workshop will be led by Chef David F. Schneider. The class, held at IRSC Mueller Campus located at 6155 College Lane in Vero Beach, will use the Richardson Center Culinary Kitchen. The class is Saturday, Feb. 7, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. The course costs $99 and includes all the food participants will use to cook. Those who sign up for the class are encouraged to bring containers to take meals home.

Home Improvement DIY Skills:

The CCTI is also offering a series of Home Improvement and DIY courses designed to introduce participants to various “do-it-yourself” topics including “How to grow your own food,” beginning Jan. 31; “How to do basic home repairs,” beginning Feb. 7; “How to remodel your Kitchen and Bath” beginning Feb. 14; and “How to hardscape,” beginning Feb. 21. The DIY courses will be offered at the IRSC Main Campus at 3209 Virginia Avenue in Fort Pierce.
