Barbara Hawley, 87, of Vero Beach, passed away peacefully at Grace Rehabilitation Center in Vero Beach on Jan. 18, 2015, after a brief stay due to an extended bout with cancer, followed by a recent fall resulting in a fractured hip.
She is survived by six children, Catherine (Dan) Schitea and Elizabeth (Raouf) Farag of California, Margaret (Ron) Sedita of Georgia, Andrew (Cathy) Hawley, Matthew (Cyndie) Hawley of Michigan and Steven (Pat) Hawley of Pembroke Pines, Fla.; 21 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
She and her husband Norman “Red” Hawley moved from Miami to Vero Beach in September 1983. She taught English and reading at Vero Beach High School until her retirement in 1989.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Vero Beach on Jan. 23, 2015, at 10 a.m.
