1 critical, 1 other injured in motorcycle-SUV crash on CR 510

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — One man is in critical condition and a teenager sustained minor injuries after the motorcycle they were riding collided with an SUV on County Road 510 at Michael Creek Circle in Indian River County Monday morning.

Both riders were airlifted to area hospitals to be treated for their injuries, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Eric Jason Mullen, 41, of Palm Bay, was driving a 2007 Honda VTX 1800C with 13-year-old Bryce Aerick Mullen, also of Palm Bay, when they collided with 65-year-old Martha Clapp Moore, of Vero Beach.

Moore was driving a 2011 Honda CRV.

According to FHP, Moore was on Michael Creek Circle and attempted to turn left onto County Road 510 when she collided with the motorcycle. Authorities said that, due to traffic, Moore did not see the motorcycle when she pulled out.

The elder Mullen was airlifted to Holmes Regional Medical Center while the younger Mullen, who sustained minor injuries, was flown to Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children.

Eric Mullen was not wearing a helmet, though Bryce Mullen was, according to FHP. Moore was wearing her seatbelt and did not sustain injury.

Charges are pending the outcome of the investigation, FHP said.
