James Moenkhaus, 78, of Vero Beach, passed away on Jan. 11, 2015, at his home.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Susanne Moenkhaus; three children: Kurt Moenkhaus of Vero Beach, Scot Moenkhaus of Chagrin Falls, Ohio, and Brant Moenkhaus (Kris) of Greenwood, Ind.; six grandchildren: Terry and Christopher Moenkhaus of Chagrin Falls, Ohio, Daniel Moenkhaus of Cleveland, Ohio, Jackie Moenkhaus of North Royalton, Ohio, Eric and Madison Moenkhaus of Greenwood, Ind.; brother Bob Moenkhaus (Karen) of Casper, Wyo., and sister-in-law, Fran Moenkhaus of Minnesota.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Bill Moenkhaus.
He was born March 21, 1936, in Scranton, Penn., the son of the late Rev. William L. Moenkhaus and Hertha Fritz. He had been a full-time resident of Vero Beach for 18 years having come from Cleveland, Ohio.
Moenkhaus was in the insurance industry for over 40 years. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Army. He attended Christ By The Sea United Methodist Church and was a member of Grand Harbor Golf and Beach Club.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2015, at Christ By The Sea United Methodist Church, 3755 Hwy. A1A, Vero Beach. There will be refreshments served immediately following the service. An online Guestbook may be signed at www.coxgiffordseawinds.com.
