Donald Wright, 90, of Vero Beach, passed away on Jan. 8, 2015.
He is survived by his wife Myrle E. Wright; four children Connie Albright of Punta Gorda, Fla., Donald Wright of Punta Gorda, Fla., Donna Graham of Vero Beach, and Kim Hawkins of Vero Beach; eight grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
He was born on Dec. 9, 1924, in Michigan City, Ind.
Wright graduated from Michigan City High School in Michigan City, Ind., Class of 1943. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and served as a Sergeant in the Philippines during WWII. He received an Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon with one Bronze Star; Philippine Liberation Ribbon with one Bronze Star; Good Conduct Ribbon; and WWII Medal.
Four days after returning home to Indiana, he married Myrle who he called Peggy. They celebrated 68 years of marriage on Feb. 4, 2014.
Wright worked as an electrician in Indiana until relocating to Punta Gorda, Fla., in 1968. He continued to work in the electrical field until he retired. He and Myrle relocated to Vero Beach in 2004.
He was a member of Cornerstone Christian Church, Vero Beach. A celebration of life service will be held at Cornerstone Christian Church on Monday, Jan. 12, 2015, at 4 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Cornerstone Christian Church, 5950 12th Street, Vero Beach, FL 32966.
